BEIJING - Chinese equities close down Wednesday led by property developers and banks.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index on the Shanghai Stock Exchange inched down 0.30 percent, or 9.59 points, to end at 3,149.09 points. The Shenzhen Component Index on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange closed at 12,632.52 points, down 70.31 points, or 0.55 percent.

Combined turnover was 229.82 billion yuan ($33.65 billion), down from 254.62 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers by 466 to 297 in Shanghai. Gainers outnumbered losers by 536 to 361 in Shenzhen.
