Why champion Czech's next effort is simply Superb

As the curtain rises on the 13th Shanghai Auto Show, all 14 models of the Skoda badge from Shanghai Volkswagen (SVW) are on display in its 1,300 sq m exhibition.

A brand-new B-Class line, the Superb, will make its China debut at the show.

The Superb is an entirely new flagship model for Skoda first launched at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show. Its makers say the model embodies the imprint of the Skoda brand - a sense of luxury and elegance - along with excellent interior design, handling, safety and ergonomic equipment.

Its "TwinDoor" design pushes design of interior space to a new height. The innovation allows opening of rear windows and its trunk to provide the hatchback with spacious capacity for loading bulky items.

Since its official launch in 2008, the Superb has won more than 30 international awards, including the "Golden Steering Wheel 2008" in Germany and "Car of the Year 2009" in eight European countries.

SVW will introduce the model in the second half of 2009, completing the Skoda lineup in China that already includes the Octavia and Fabia series.

Providing consumers with energy-saving and eco-friendly cars is one of the most important challenges in today's global auto industry, and China is no exception. The first China-made Skoda Octavia Mingrui is equipped with the efficient TSI engine.

Skoda is also expected to bring the new Octavia Concept GreenLine to the Shanghai Auto Show. Equipped with a TSI gasoline injector-spray engine and dual-clutch 7-speed DSG - the most advanced automatic transmission currently produced by Volkswagen Germany - the Octavia Concept GreenLine - has more powerful and stable power output that reduces fuel consumption and emissions.

Both the 2009 Octavia Mingrui - officially launched in March this year offering 15 equipment upgrades - and the A0 Class Fabia Jingrui will also appear on the show.

SVW Skoda is showing a cross-sectioned Fabia Jingrui to illustrate its advanced body structure and craftsmanship.
