China's fastest subway train to run by year end in Shanghai

Updated: 2009-07-24 14:25 China's fastest subway train, which is running in trial in Shanghai, will become operational at the end of the year, subway managers said Thursday.
The train was manufactured by the Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Factory Group in Hunan Province, one of China's three major locomotive manufacturers. It borrowed technology from the Germany-based Siemens. With 250 kilometers of subway lines, Shanghai boasts the most extensive subway system among Chinese cities.
