China greatly enhances international trademark protection
(Xinhua)
Updated: 2009-04-07 09:38 China has enhanced the protection of international trademarks in the past years, as more than 530,000 foreign trade marks from more than 130 countries or regions had been registered in China by 2008, Chinese authorities has said.
China had already set a trademark law system that suits both China's actual condition and the international regulation, and joined six international treaties or conventions concerning trademarks, hence international trademark protection has been greatly enhanced, SAIC said. SAIC had also intensified cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in recent years, and conducted over 17,000 applications under the Madrid Protocol for the international registration of trademarks in 2008, up 4.9 percent over the 2007 level, it said.
