Chinese investors will benefit if they invest in Thailand as the country is a gateway to other Southeast Asian countries and the Greater Mekong Sub-region in light of regional transportation links and strong supporting industries, Thailand's Board of Investment (BOI) said in a press release on Friday.

Thailand hopes that the country's machinery and equipment, metal working, pharmaceuticals and alternative energy sector will attract more Chinese investments, the BOI press release said.

The planned activities by the Thai government include an investment roadshow in China in April, visiting by Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva by mid-year to China, and establishment of two more BOI offices in Beijing and Guangzhou.

Also, on May 25-26 the World Eminence Chinese Business Association will bring over 200 Chinese businessmen from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan and other major economies to participate in a conference concerning business opportunities in Thailand, the BOI press release said.
