Sinohydro wins 4.9b yuan railway construction contract

Sinohydro, China's leading hydraulic construction contractor, has won the bid to construct a 72.79 km railway in Jiangsu province, part of the railway connecting Nanjing and Hangzhou, according to a statement posted on the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) website

Value of the deal is worth 4.94 billion yuan ($722 million).

The Beijing-based company's business ranges from transport infrastructure, dredging and reclamation to hydropower and hydraulic works. In 2008 it entered the railway construction market.

The 248.96 km Nanjing-Hangzhou railway is expected to be operational in three years.
