Updated: 2008-12-16 15:55 China's energy output growth dropped sharply in November, affected by the worsening global financial crisis and the slowing economy. The national energy output amounted to 214.58 million tons in November, up 7.7 percent year-on-year, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on Tuesday.
Power generation output posted both year-on-year and month-on-month negative growths in November. The country generated 254.02 billion kWh of electricity last month, down 9.6 percent year-on-year or 4 percent month-on-month. Power generation output totaled 3.13 trillion kWh in the first 11 months this year. Coal-fired power generation output has continued the downward trend started in October, reaching 199.48 billion kWh, down 16.6 percent from the same period last year.
