West Lake, first online expo in China

The first online expo in China was launched last Sunday in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. The official site was created as part of the 10th West Lake International Expo Hangzhou China.

"We hope to create a never-ending West Lake expo through the online expo", said Guo Chunmin, deputy director of the organizing committee at a press conference last Friday.

The online expo combines the real expo and the Internet together, showing the past, present and future of the West Lake expo in three-dimensions. It provides all-around information on the expo, and activities and online live broadcasts are also available on the website.

The online expo comprises five channels. These include a three-dimensional simulation of the expo in 1929, a panorama of the expo with a three-dimensional map of Hangzhou, the live broadcasting of current and previous expos with articles, pictures and videos. There is also a virtual online expo park, and interactive entertainment activities.

"Websites, as the fourth kind of media, have become an in-time, diverse and multinational media in reporting the construction and development of China", Guo said.
