The insurance industry had received about 202,000 quake-related claims as of May 25, according to the China Insurance Regulatory Commission.

Some 14,100 policyholders died and 1,675 were permanently disabled. About 35,000 insured houses collapsed. Compensations totaled 92.34 million yuan ($13.29 million) as of May 25. Life insurers paid out 64.99 million yuan and property insurers 27.35 million yuan.

Life insurance claims totaled 1,367. Some 1,168 policyholders died and 47 were permanently disabled. Compensations totaled 16.27 million yuan in life insurance. There were 503 health insurance claims. Some 47 policyholders died and 117 were permanently disabled. Compensations totaled 78,700 yuan. Accidental injury insurance claims totaled 23,400. Some 12,300 policyholders died and 1,169 were permanently disabled. Compensations totaled 48.64 million yuan.

Enterprise property insurance claims totaled 2,272. Compensations in this area totaled 13.52 million yuan. Family property insurance claims totaled 106,000. Compensations totaled 810,000 yuan. Vehicle insurance claims totaled 4,961. Compensations totaled 438,000 yuan. Agricultural insurance claims totaled 63,000. Compensations totaled 35,700 yuan.

In addition, as of May 25, 26 insurance employees died, 226 others injured. Six-four insurance branch companies, 447 sub-branches and 776 sales offices had been damaged in the insurance industry.
