Chongqing Chang'an Suzuki Automobile Co.,Ltd., a joint venture between Chang'an Motors and Suzuki Motors, will unveil some 18 models of Swift and Tianyu SX4, the Xinhua news agency reported today.
Mr Takashi Mayazaki, deputy general manager of Changan Suzuki, told the media that the company plans to launch various editions of the two brands, aiming to meet the demands of its discriminating demands.
Changan Suzuki fell short of its target last year by selling only 110,000 vehicles, a market share of 3%, almost no increase over 2005. Mayazaki attributes this to the lack of new models and poor sales network but he denied the company has any plan to produce the Suzuki Vitara SUV in China in 2008.
He further added that the company will bring its latest products to China and increase the number of dealers from 50 to 200 within 2008.
While Changan Suzuki is struggling to meet its sales target, Changan Auto Group's other joint venture Changan Ford Mazda sold 217,848 vehicles in China last year, representing an increase of 60 percent from one year earlier.
