Chinese shares dropped 2.32 percent on Tuesday, as heavy weight stocks weakened on declining surrounding markets, analysts said.

The drop ended a major rise on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 102.82 points to close at 4,335.45.

The Shenzhen Component Index, which covers both A and B shares, closed at 15,746.23 Tuesday, down 441.28 points, or 2.73 percent, from the previous close.

Despite the drop, the combined turnover further increased to 203.7 billion yuan ($28.6 billion) from 184 billion yuan on Monday.
