APRIL wins most socially responsible enterprise award 2007(China Daily)
Updated: 2008-01-24 17:49 Asia Pacific Resources International Holdings Limited (APRIL) was honoured with the "2007 Most Socially Responsible Enterprise Award" for the company's initiatives in promoting environmental protection and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in its operations. Held in conjunction with the 3rd China Global CSR Forum and the 2007 CSR in China Survey on January 16 in Beijing, the awards recognized a total of 16 companies and one media, including Lenovo, China Construction Bank, Microsoft China, Volkswagen China and CCTV Economic Channel for their CSR efforts. "It is a heartening recognition of our efforts to be a responsible and environment-friendly corporate citizen in all areas where we operate. APRIL continues to be deeply committed to responsible forest management, sustainable development, and the principle of 'Good for the People, Good for the Country, Good for the Company'," said Peter Jaya Negara, vice-president of APRIL China. One of the world's leading fiber, pulp and paper producers, APRIL adopts strict measures to ensure the sustainable management of their forest resources and actively combats illegal logging. In addition, the company designs its plantations to protect High Conservation Value Forests (HCVFs), and works with organizations like the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) on various conservation initiatives. The China Global CSR Forum & Award is jointly hosted by China Newsweek and Chinese Red Cross Federation. |
