Seven-month foreign investment rises 12.9% through July

Foreign direct investment in China, the world's fastest-growing major economy, increased 12.9 percent in the first seven months of 2007 to $36.9 billion, according to government statistics.

Spending by overseas companies rose from a year earlier to $36.9 billion, the Ministry of Commerce said today on its website. For July alone, foreign direct investment climbed 17.8 percent to $5 billion.
