Licensed insurance staff declines

In the second quarter this year, the average licensed staff ratio dropped 0.49 percentage points from Q1 at insurance intermediary companies, according to the latest statistics from the China Insurance Regulatory Commission, reported Shanghai Securities News.

By the end of June, there were a total 2,256 insurance intermediary companies in China. Of the 2,163 that submitted reports, there were 70,643 staff in total, and 68.83 percent of them had been granted certifications. Of the total staff, some 55,293 were business operators, and 73.95 percent of them were licensed.

Specifically, the average licensed staff ratio reached 74.57 percent in the insurance agencies, 48.00 percent in broker institutions, and 36.26 percent in public assessment institutions.

In the first quarter, the registered insurance intermediate companies totaled 2,193. Of a total of 64,411 employees working for the 2,120 companies that reported their status, the average licensed ratio was 69.32 percent. Some 50,050 were business operators, and 74.83 percent of them had certifications. Therein, some 74.13 percent of the staff in the insurance agencies, 47.94 percent in broker institutions, and 43.11 percent in public assessment institutions had licenses.
