IPR infringement settlement reached

Chinese audio and video chip maker Actions Semiconductor yesterday said it had reached a settlement with US counterpart SigmaTel Inc on intellectual property infringement suits. The two companies will not sue each other at least in the next three years. They also signed a cross-licensing agreement. SigmaTel sued Actions in March 2005 at a US court for infringements of its patents on MP3 chips and launched several rounds of suits and countersuits thereafter.
