Micro Motion to double sales in ChinaBy Zheng Lifei (China Daily)Updated: 2007-06-15 08:56 Micro Motion, a leading international flow meter supplier, is aiming to double its sales in China in the next five years, mainly driven by booming oil, petrochemical and food and beverage industries, senior company officials said. "We have almost doubled our sales in the past five years and we are confident we can double it again in the next five years too," said Trey Rothenberger, vice-president of Micro Motion and Rosemount Flow. But he declined to reveal the specific sales numbers, citing company policy. The US flow meter maker, a business division of Fortune 500 company Emerson, provides products and technology to users to measure mass flow, volume flow, density and temperature for liquids, slurries and gases - all in a single device. Its signature Coriolis technology, with more than 1,000 patent s, has more of its meters installed throughout the world than all other brands combined. China accounts for more than half of Micro Motion's business turnover in Asia-Pacific, becoming its second-largest market after its home turf, United States, according to Tom Moser, Micro Motion's global president. Its volume flow meter now accounts for 70 percent of the market in China, with the country's leading oil companies such as Sinopec and PetroChina as its customers. The flow meter provider said it would target four industries in China as its core business drivers in the future. "We are mainly focusing on oil and gas, petrochemical, life science and food and beverage industries in China," said Moser. The market (in the oil and gas sector) is growing bigger in China as more and more international petrochemical giants are setting foot in the country, said Rothenberger, who is responsible for sales, marketing, and business operations in Asia-Pacific. Micro Motion, Moser said, is performing particularly well in the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) sector in China. (For more biz stories, please visit Industry Updates) |
