China Jan-May machinery, electronics exports up 27.5 percent

Exports of machinery and electronics products in the five months to May rose 27.5 percent year-on-year to 254.02 billion US dollars, accounting for 57.3 percent of the country's total exports during the period, the Ministry of Commerce said.

Exports of high-tech products were up 24.3 percent at 125.76 billion US dollars, accounting for 28.4 percent of overall exports, the ministry's spokesman Yao Shenhong said.

In the five months to May, imports of machinery and electronics products rose 14.6 percent year-on-year to 184.19 billion US dollars, accounting for 51.5 percent of total imports, Yao said.

Imports of high-tech products rose 15.8 percent from a year earlier to 106.73 billion US dollars during the January-May period, accounting for 29.8 percent, he added.
