Stocks creep up, 03/13

China's stocks rose slightly yesterday, led by brokerages such as CITIC Securities Co on speculation that higher trading volumes will increase earnings.

The Shanghai Composite Index added 0.33 percent to reach 2,964.79. A total of 550 companies gained yesterday in the Shanghai A-share market, while 229 saw losses. Turnover was active at 88.66 billion yuan against 85.5 billion yuan on Monday.

CITIC Securities, China's biggest publicly traded brokerage, rose 0.92 yuan to 43.36 yuan.
