"Under such circumstances, privatization becomes a wise and natural choice for the company. After delisting, managers of the firm may have more options and will be able to govern the firm with their own intentions, rather than bending to regulations and rules of the stock market," Feng commented.

The proposed privatization of AsiaSat is subject to a number of conditions.

Modern Day plans to maintain the existing business of AsiaSat upon the successful privatization, it said, with no major changes to the existing operating and management structure expected.

Trading in AsiaSat's shares was suspended on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on February 9.

The company has filed an application with the Hong Kong stock exchange for resumption of trading in AsiaSat's shares.
