China's main stock index gained 2.81 percent on Monday, as bank and property shares rebounded.

The Shanghai Composite Index closed at 2,807.174. A total of 721 stocks on the Shanghai A-share market climbed, while 44 fell.

Turnover in Shanghai A shares remained moderate at 63.46 billion yuan yesterday, suggesting investors are becoming more rational and careful about the market.

Poly Real Estate surged near its 10 percent daily limit to 45.07 yuan yesterday.
