China's heavy-duty truck market entered into a stable development era in 2006 after severe ups and downs in previous years. Major heavy-duty truck producers have mapped out new development plans for 2007.

FAW Jiefang will expand with independently-developed trucks
FAW Jiefang Automobile Co Ltd plans to launch its new proprietary Jiefang J6 truck model in the second quarter of 2007, which is expected to replace same level imported trucks for high-end clients.

Dongfeng Motor will prioritize special vehicle production
Dongfeng Tianlong heavy-duty trucks entered the market in May 2006. The brand has evolved from the initial nine types to the current number of over 100 types under 36 models. The company plans to further increase the brand to over 300 types under 80 models.

Sinotruk aims to reach international levels
The China National Heavy Duty Truck Group (Sinotruk) will continue to enhance the technical contents of its HOWO brand to approach advanced international levels. Meanwhile, major relevant truck products including suspensions, axles and tyres will be upgraded. Sinotruk plans to provide high-quality and fuel efficient engines and be able to provide China's top-level engines within two to three years.
