Coal order meeting may not take place as scheduled

Sources from the China Coal Trade & Development Association (CCTDA) said the government is not engaged in the coal order meeting and intends to focus solely on marketization.

An insider at the National Development and Research Commission also said the coal order meeting 2007 will be presided over by CCTDA instead of the commission.

The coal order meeting is the main way of ensuring smooth connections from coal production and transportation to demand in China. Coal and electricity enterprises set prices and sign contracts at the meeting.
