China's dependency on steel export increases

The American Iron and Steel Institute, the major trade association on behalf of the North American steel industry, has submitted a written statement to the US government, asking to limit imports of China's steel products in order to protect the American steel industry.

However, this has annoyed domestic steel companies that rely on exports for business.

Statistics show that China's dependency on exported steel products doubled during June, July and August of this year. Figures show that Rizhao port, one of East China's Shandong Province's busiest ports, exported one million tons of steel this year.
