Construction on the Ningxia Big World Auto Market, the largest automobile distribution market in Northwest China, officially started on June 18. The market is located at the Desheng Industrial Park in Helan County, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. 

With a total investment of 200 million yuan (US$25.03 million), the auto market has a construction area of 100,000 square meters and will be a comprehensive shopping mall that integrates auto sales and maintenance services. Upon completion, it is expected to accommodate 180 business operators and trade about 100 brands of auto products, with an annual turnover expected to reach 1 billion yuan.

Currently, there are more than 200 auto dealers of different sizes in Ningxia. In 2005 sales of new cars in the region reached 30,0000 units, up 30 percent year on year, and sales of second-hand vehicles were more than 30,000 units, up 35 percent year on year.
