Construction: Price index jumps

The housing price index in Beijing, China's capital, surged 10.3 percent in
May from a year ago, the Beijing Statistics Bureau said yesterday.
From January to May, the housing price index in the city increased 9.4
percent, according to the statistics bureau.
Developers completed the construction of 4.1 million square meters of houses
during the period, down 32 percent from a year ago, according to the
bureau.
