Skoda Superb Haorui

The mid-sized sedan, made at Sino-German joint venture Shanghai Volkswagen, has two engine options: 1.8-liter and 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder. Both of the two versions are equipped with a six-speed Tiptronic gearbox. The 2.0 TSI engine produces maximum power of 147kW/5,100-6,000rpm and boasts top torque of 280Nm/1,700-5,000rpm. The 2.0-liter Superb Haorui has a top speed of 220 km per hour and accelerates from zero to 100 km per hour in 8 seconds.

The Superb Haorui only consumes 6.1 liters of gasoline per 100 km at a constant speed of 90 km per hour. It meets the National IV emission standard. The model also has lots of cutting-edge features, such as "TwinDoor" trunk, AFS (adaptive front lighting system) dual xenon headlight, intelligent solar sunroof and PLA system (park lenk assistent in German).

The Haorui is one of the roomiest mid-sized sedans as it is 4,838 mm long, 1,817 wide and 1,462 high with a 2,761-mm wheelbase. The model retails between 179,900 and 250,900 yuan. Its main competitors are Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. According to Skoda, the Superb Haorui mainly targets customers who are "practical, easygoing and quality-oriented".

The new MPV, made at Sino-Japanese joint venture Guangqi Honda Automobile Co, retails between 229,800 and 282,800 yuan. It is equipped with a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder in-line I-VTEC engine and a five-speed automatic gearbox. Its maximum power and top torque stand at 133Kw/6,500rpm and 218Nm/4,300rpm respectively. The new Odyssey accelerates from zero to 100 km per hour within 12.3 seconds. It only consumes 6.8 liters of gasoline per 100 km at a constant speed of 90 km per hour.

The seven-seat model is 4,810 mm long, 1,802 mm wide and 1,570 mm high. It has a 2,830-mm wheelbase. The new Odyssey goes head-to-head with the Buick GL8 from Shanghai GM.
