Beijing's tourism authority said the city earned more than 360 billion yuan ($57.9 billion) from tourism business in 2012, the Beijing Times reported on Wednesday.
An improving economic environment both at home and abroad will keep Beijing's gross regional product (similar to GDP) "moderately" increasing in 2013 after registering a 13-year low the previous year.
The China Economics Annual Conference (2012-13) will take place on Jan 26 in Beijing.
According to the statistics revealed on Jan 9 by Ministry of Commerce, during week from Dec.31, 2012 to Jan 6, 2013 in the 36 big and middle sized cities in China, the prices of edible farm products continue to rise, of which the average wholesale prices of 18 vegetables rise by 7.1 percent.
The fair will officially open in China International Exhibition Center (the older one) from Jan 11 to 13. Over 700 exhibitors will display more than 500,000 books on it. The fair is a debut to readers. Readers can get free ticket at the door and buy books on the fair.
Beijing's new airport will greatly ease the burden on the current one, but civilian and military use must be coordinated to ensure operations, experts have said.
