The city of Beijing has been promoting the use of electric cars through various measures such as providing rental services, improving charging facilities and offering free parking and discounted tolls. Currently, there are about 4,000 private electric car owners in Beijing. The city has built 1,500 public charging poles, two thirds of which have already been put into operation. The total number is expected to double till the end of this year, the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission estimates. |
