Wine expo draws international chateaus to Beijing
A total of 500 chateaus from 22 countries around the world showcased their products at the International Wine Exposition, part of this year's International Grape Conference, which started in Beijing's Yanqing county on July 29. The wine expo, with a theme of "Brand, Trade, Cooperation", provides a platform for international trade and exhibition. More than 300 famous chateaus and enterprises both old and new, as well as the top 10 wine-producing areas in China and well-known domestic wine brands, came together during the event. This year's expo is unique as all exhibitors are wine producers. What's more, world-famous wine masters were invited to taste and rate the different varieties. Viticulture history of Yanqing The viticulture history of Yanqing county can be traced back more than 300 years to the reign of Emperor Kangxi. Since 1979, the Yanqing grape industry has made great progress, and to date, the planted area in the county has reached nearly 1,333 hectares. In 2006, nearly 47 hectares of vineyard in Qianheilongmiao villiage, Zhangshanying town, received organic certification from Beijing Orient Jiahe Certification Co, making it the first grape production area with organic certification in Beijing. | ||

Beijing looking at a bumper grape crop Yanqing county, under Beijing administration, is a pilot for scientific and technological innovation in grape growing and is celebrating a big harvest, which attracted many pickers recently, even during the hot summer. The county is known for the quality of its grapes and wine, thanks to some favorable growing conditions, such as the abundant sunlight and well-equipped greenhouses and the greater industrialization of grape growing in recent years for both eating and making wine. | ||
