The Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention issued a health guide for people going back to work and school on May 5, the last day of the May Day holiday.

The guide reminds the public to keep monitoring their health and wearing masks properly, and practice protective measures in their daily lives.

1. Monitor your health

Pay attention to your own physical condition and that of your family members, especially those who have recently traveled. If you have symptoms such as fever and dry cough, please wear a medical mask and go to the nearest fever clinic.

You should inform the doctor of your travel history, contact history and quarantine observation situation to facilitate a timely diagnosis. You should also avoid going to work when you feel ill.

2. Wear a mask properly

You should carry a mask with you and choose a suitable type of mask in accordance with specific situation.

3. Protective measures

Pay attention to personal hygiene, develop habits such as frequent hand-washing, room ventilation, no gatherings, and a good cough etiquette. You should carry a hand sanitizer when you go out.

When dining out, you should go to a restaurant with a hygiene license and keep at least one meter away from other people. Minimize contact with the public facilities in restaurants, have individual serving, and use serving spoons and chopsticks.

4. Have enough sleep

Keep a regular schedule. Be early to bed and early to rise, and try not to oversleep.

5. Do appropriate exercise

Increase the amount of exercise, but avoid excessive exercise or fatigue. Try to stay at home or choose an empty place outdoors for exercise, and keep your distance from others.

6. A healthy diet

Eat less greasy food. Eat more coarse grains, fresh vegetables and fruits, and foods rich in protein and vitamins. Use less salt when cooking. Have your meals regularly and reduce the amount of snacking.

7. Keep a good mood

Do something to make yourself happy and relaxed, such as listening to some soothing music, reading a book, or basking in the sun.

8. Preparations for graduating students

Monitor your state of health. Take body temperature regularly. Should you have symptoms such as fever, cough, fatigue, and diarrhea, don't go to school. Instead, go to see a doctor or self-isolate at home for observation, and report to the teacher at an appropriate time.

Use disposable medical masks or surgical masks, disinfectant hand rub or wipes, disposable gloves and tissues.
