The Beijing municipal authority consulted 37 overseas training agencies on Saturday to regulate overseas training programs for government officials, the Beijing Times reported on Monday.
The authority said only programs which fit within the development of the city and which cannot be conducted at home will be approved. It also urged short-term or subject-specific training instead of academic education. Program leaders are not allowed to change the target route or visit additional cities, the report said.
The report said the city has sent 25,000 personnel to be trained overseas between 1992 and 2010.
