China's trap shooters aim to win at least one gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, coach Sun Shengwei said.

"It is our wish for many years," said Sun.

China's Zhang Shan claimed the gold medal in the skeet event at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. Since then China has won five Olympic medals in trap shooting but none was an gold.

"Based on Chinese shooters' performance last year, I think we have realistic shots at top honors in three events, namely the women's skeet and trap, and men's double trap," said Sun.

Zhu Mei and Chen Li helped China win the women's trap team title at last year's world championships, and Zhu snatched the silver medal in the individual event.

Fellow countrywoman Shi Hongyan broke the world record in the women's skeet, while last year's top three results in the men's double trap were produced by China's Wang Nan and Hu Binyuan.

The Chinese national trap shooting team is training in Guiyang, the capital city of southwest China's Guizhou Province.
