The roster was made public on Thursday in Shenzhen, where the national teams are undergoing intensive training to prepare for the upcoming Asian Games to be held from December 1st to 15th.

Youngsters Hao Shuai and Chen Qing made up for the top guns' absence.

The sports authorities explained that the exclusion of the top players is to provide an opportunity to nurture the younger players.

The Chinese table tennis teams will be led by veterans Ma Lin and Wang Nan who each will compete in all four events, namely, the men's and women's singles, doubles, team, and mixed doubles.
