International Olympic Committee coordinator for Beijing Olympic Games Hein Verbruggen has been invited to carry the Doha Asian Games flame in the torch relay taking place in Beijing on Sunday afternoon, torch relay organizers said on Wednesday.

Verbruggen, head of the IOC's coordination commission for the 2008 Games, will be the second among the 100 torch bearers but organizers declined to reveal the first and final torch bearers for the relay.

The relay starts at the Tian'anmen Square, threads through noteworthy sites such as the National Theater, the Drum Tower, the Lama Temple, the former Asian Games village and Ming Dynasty relic park before coming to its end in the Temple of Heaven.

The 15th Asian Games torch, emblazed on Oct. 8, will cover over 50,000km in its 55-day traveling past 15 countries and regions before returning to Doha.

The main flame will be set up on Dec. 1 when the Asian Games lift its curtain.

Beijing hosted the 1990 Asian Games.
