Beijing will provide the most certificate-activating facilities ever in
Olympic history for participants of the Games in 2008.
This is a bid to offer more convenience for athletes, officials and media who
will participate in the Olympic Games.
According to the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games, or
BOCOG, the activated certificates will not only allow individuals to get to the
sporting venues, but also enable them to enter or leave any port in the country,
including Hong Kong, during the Olympic period.
An official with the registration centre of BOCOG, Yang Minghui, says over 40
certificate-activating sites can be found in five cities such as Beijing,
Qingdao and Shanghai.
"Without increasing equipment or personnel, we have added many more
activating services. With the help, people can get to the sites and get down
with their work more efficiently."
Registered certificates held by athletes, officials and media from countries
throughout the world will only take effect after activation.
