Volunteers from outside the host and co-host cities will cover their travel and accommodation expenses during their period of volunteer service, said Li Zhixin, deputy chief of the Beijing Olympic Volunteers Work Co-ordination Group on Monday.

According to the General Policy for Volunteers for the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games, volunteers will be provided meals during service hours and free public transport services in designated areas within the city area, but will be responsible for round-trip transportation expenses from their place of residence to the host city as well as their accommodation.

During the Olympic Games, volunteers will be able to have short breaks to guarantee the quality and effect of their service, Li said. They will also receive certificates and badges for the service, while excellent volunteers, teams and organizations will be awarded honorary titles.
